आत्मा
hindi (aatma)
soul
AATMA was born in India - without much of a plan, just a feeling.
While walking around the streets and sacred lake of Pushkar, I became obsessed with the richness of Indian textiles and craftsmanship.
Block prints hanging outside small workshops, fabrics drying in the sun, colours everywhere, layers of dust, pigments and handmade details.
At first, I simply wanted to bring a piece of that world back with me - but in a way that felt closer to my own aesthetic: relaxed silhouettes, breathable fabrics and garments made to be lived in slowly.
Everything started with a block printing workshop in Rajasthan. I fell in love with the rhythm of this craft - the sound of wood meeting fabric, the imperfections in every print, the patience and repetition behind each piece.
That experience became the beginning of AATMA.
The first collection, Shakti, was entirely handmade in India using natural pigments and lightweight cotton. Loose shapes, bold prints and pieces named after Indian goddesses - a small tribute to feminine energy, intuition and strength.
Over time, AATMA slowly evolved between two places: India and Fuerteventura.
Alongside Indian textiles and traditional craftsmanship, I started experimenting with natural dyeing under the Atlantic sun - using plants, flowers, minerals and intuitive processes to create colours that shift, fade and never become exactly the same.
Today, AATMA exists somewhere between a clothing label, a textile archive and a creative dye studio.
AATMA means soul.
Everything is made slowly, in small batches and with enough irregularity to remember there were human hands behind it.
